Well it has been just over a month since my last directing Job and in just over two weeks I will be starting a new project that will become my life for the next two and a bit months.
The Myth of Escape is a new play by North West playwright Rob Johnston who is co-producing the show with his company Breathe Out Theatre Company and Happystorm Theatre Company, which will premier at Studio Salford as part of ‘Not Part of Festival’ from the 7th -10th July and then on a small tour – did you get all that? All dates and times etc are posted at the bottom of this little blog post.
The Myth of Escape is an absurdist drama about holding onto everything you believe in – the show is full of comedy but also tinged with hard hitting and thought provoking moments.
As I am currently in pre-production finalising my ideas for the piece I thought I would let you all into a little secret; this production has given me my first ‘Director’s Nightmare’ it felt so real and I hope it really is the only one I ever get, but I have little to worry about as the cast (James Jowett, Susi Wrenshaw & Andrew Robert Palmer) are fantastic and I am really looking forward to getting to know them as we explore and bring the piece to life.
We will be showcasing the 1st ten minutes of the play at Embryo 55 at Studio Salford on the 10th June at 8pm so please do come along and support us. I will obviously keep you upto date with proceedings as and when they happen but please do come along to one of the dates below.
